DELTACAST 8-channels card enables the new all-in-one 8-channel multichannel ingest solution from SOFTRON

Monday, April 07, 2014 - DELTACAST 8-channels card enables the new all-in-one 8-channel multichannel ingest solution from SOFTRON

Ans, Belgium — 7 April, 2014 - Demonstrating its continued belief that a Macintosh multicam solution provides the optimal workstation for multichannel ingest, SOFTRON MEDIA SERVICES announces a new software and hardware bundle the M80, which comprises a license for 8 ingest channels of MovieRecorder 3 together with a ThunderboltTM 2 expansion chassis and an 8 input video card from DELTACAST. Simply connect the M80 box to one of the ThunderboltTM 2 ports of the new Mac Pro and immediately start ingesting 8 HD channels at a cost significantly less than other multichannel ingest solutions.

Eight inputs can be recorded for later editing or thanks to MovieRecorder 3’s edit-while-ingest capability, edited on the fly.

The M80 enables Sports and Live events producers to capture video and edit-while-ingest; it provides broadcasters who have to record multiple feeds at given times of day to schedule 24/7/365 using all 8 channels of input.  It supports a vast variety of different codecs, e.g. all forms of ProRes, MXF DNxHD, H.264, etc. Multiple files can be captured simultaneously to different destinations on local or shared storage.  SOFTRON provides presets settings that are customizable.  When used together with SOFTRON's Multicam Logger and an ATEM production switch from Blackmagic Design, multiple camera angles are registered in an XML during a production, which is then imported seamlessly into Final Cut Pro X to finish.

We are firm believers that the new Mac Pro is the best system for editors that exists,” said SOFTRON's Technical Director Pierre Chevalier.  “Multicam, once difficult or confusing has been made easy and straightforward.  Our M80 product is designed to simplify the process even more – making it possible to just plug in one ThunderboltTM 2 cable into the new Mac Pro and start capturing up to 8 HD sources using our new MovieRecorder 3 software. We chose DELTACAST because it is a known high quality supplier of high-density video input and output cards. ”

Christian Dutilleux, DELTACAST CEO says "We decided last year to extend our activity to the MAC world. We are happy to see that our strategy, which consists of providing the OEM market with high-end solutions, is easily implemented by SOFTRON in their new multi-channel MovieRecorder application, providing a 8-channel multicam ingest solution on the new Mac Pro.
