Deltacast announced today support for NVIDIA® professional graphics processing units (GPUs), available as an official extension of the VideoMasterHD OEM SDK.

This SDK extension will be supported by the next release of VideoMasterHD v5.09 on Windows 7 64-bit.

The new VideoMasterHD SDK will leverage NVIDIA GPUDirect™ for Video, a technology that enables application developers to deliver higher quality, more realistic on-air graphics – by taking faster advantage of GPUs’ parallel processing power. It does so by permitting industry-standard video I/O devices to communicate directly with NVIDIA professional Quadro® and Tesla™ GPUs at ultra-low latency.

“This is another built-in solution, elegantly integrated within our popular VideoMasterHD SDK”, said Christian Dutilleux, CEO of DELTACAST, “We continue to provide flexible and universal solutions to meet our customers’ needs, in order to minimize their software development and achieve the performance and specifications that their own customers, in turn, might require.”

By providing a low latency workflow solution, broadcasters can now incorporate new kinds of on-air graphics, enabling the talent to interact with virtual charts and data in visually compelling ways that provide insight to viewers. For live-event video production on big screens in large spaces like arenas, the fast processing of video from Deltacast products and NVIDIA Quadro GPUs enables production companies to incorporate dramatic new visual effects without causing the big-screen video to get out of sync with action on stage.

“Deltacast demonstrates how NVIDIA and our partners are redefining what’s possible in real-time video production,” said Greg Estes, industry executive, Media & Entertainment, NVIDIA. “Their new SDK extension accesses the parallel processing power of NVIDIA GPUs to process real-time video streams with dramatically lower latency. The result is a fabulous viewing experience.”

NVIDIA GPUDirect for Video is supported on Windows 7 and Linux. It is designed to work with NVIDIA Quadro 4000, Quadro 5000, and Quadro 6000 GPUs, as well as NVIDIA Tesla C-Series GPUs.
